What Are Yard Signs?

Sign Stakes

Our 4mm corrugated plastic yard signs with vertical fluting (fluting is vertical up to 48”) offer a durable and versatile outdoor signage solution. Yard signs can be displayed with optional wire stakes added during the order process, installed in frames (available for 24” x 18” yard signs common to real estate uses), or hung or propped in a variety of ways.

Yard signs are most commonly used on lawns and alongside roads for political advertising, business services promotion, real estate signage, and more. They also work great as informational signs, yard sale signs, announcements, and directing attendees to weddings and other events.

Yard signs can be single- or double-sided, cut to shape, and have wire stakes added for display purposes.

The most common sizes include: 24” x 6”, 24” x 18”, 18” x 12”, 36” x 18”, 2’ x 2’, and 4’ x 4’.

Full Color

Free Full Color Printing for Any Quantity

All of our yard signs are digitally printed in full color. This printing method offers the highest quality print. It means no limitations or restrictions on your sign’s graphics or design (no extra charges for more than one color!). While they’re slightly more expensive than screen-printed one-color yard signs, we’re confident you’ll love the vibrancy and quality of your custom yard signs.

Reach the Right People in the Right Places With Yard Sign Printing

One of the most cost-effective ways to reach potential customers is through yard sign printing. Yard signs are an inexpensive way to promote your business and capture the attention of potential customers. They’re easy to set up and can be placed in highly visible areas.

Yard signs come in a wide array of sizes, shapes, and styles, allowing you to find the one that best fits your needs and budget. Our online design tool allows you to create your custom messages, making yard signs a versatile and customizable marketing tool.

Whether you’re advertising a property listing, supporting a political candidate, or driving traffic to your location, yard signs are an excellent way to get the word out.

Display Options

Our yard signs can be displayed in various ways, with each providing an easy way to effectively promote your business or event.

Wire Stakes

Wire Stakes

Wire stakes are light enough to prevent exorbitant shipping costs and provide portability but durable enough to be pushed into a soft surface. With careful use, wire stakes can be removed with your signs and reused for future display needs.

We offer two different versions of wire stakes: standard and heavy-duty. Standard wire stakes are made of 9 gauge steel, whereas heavy-duty stakes have a base made from 1/4” steel with a welded top made from 9 gauge steel. Heavy-duty stakes provide additional stability against wind and other elements and help keep your sign standing tall for an extended period.

Real Estate Frames

Real Estate Frames

Our yard signs can also be used in real estate frames, propped, and even hung using optional grommets and rope or string.

A-Frame

Premium A-Frames

For retail use, add premium A-Frames and use them as sandwich boards. Lastly, you can also attach your signs to rigid substrates using washers and screws.

Halo Contour

Custom Shape Options

Custom yard signs can be cut to shape in two different ways. Our Custom with Border shape option cuts your sign to a specific shape but leaves a small border around the edge of your sign. Meanwhile, our Custom shape option cuts your sign to the exact edge of your design. Both options can be selected from our design tool during the ordering process. Additional shape options include square/rectangle, rounded corners (1” radius), and circle/oval.

Yard Sign

Double Sided Printing

Your corrugated yard signs can be used both indoors and outdoors for temporary display needs. Your signs are weather- and moisture-resistant, although we recommend removing them in extreme weather conditions, including strong winds. Assuming proper use and no extreme weather, your signs should last 2+ years of outdoor use.

Outdoor Use

Product Specs

What material are your yard signs? Do you offer other material types?

Our yard signs are made of corrugated plastic. The corrugated plastic is industry standard and is 4 millimeters (.157 inches) thick. This material provides an excellent combination of affordability and durability. For those looking for hard plastic or metal yard signs we would recommend our rigid plastic signs or aluminum materials. These materials can be displayed in a variety of ways and offer a more permanent signage solution.

What is corrugated plastic?

Corrugated plastic is what almost all lawn signs are made of. Other names for the same material include Corplast, Coroplast, and sometimes even plastic cardboard. Technically speaking, it is a twinwall plastic that has fluting in the middle of two plastic sheets. Corrugated plastic is often made from polypropylene. Other uses of polypropylene beyond signage include reusable packaging, plastic containers, pet cages and more.

Do you offer wire stakes or h-frames with your yard signs?

Yes, we offer wire stakes (also called h-frames or step stakes) with our yard signs. These terms are actually interchangeable and simply refer to the metal frame that can be used to post the sign on soft surfaces such as lawns. The width of these frames (10”) actually dictates that your sign be at least 11” wide in order to fit the wire stakes. These stakes or frames are made from 9 gauge steel.

Can I order double sided yard signs? What if the back side of my sign is different from my front?

Yes, you can order single or double sided yard signs. To order double sided yard signs you simply need to select the option when designing your sign on our design tool. To create a different design on the back of the sign, simply click the “Back Side” button underneath the design tool. This button will be visible once “2 Sides Different” is selected from the “Printed Sides” option. Using different designed sides is common when the lawn sign will be used for directional purposes and features some kind of arrow. Please design your sign accordingly if it features an arrow or some similar design aspect.

Do you offer yard signs with Velcro?

We can add Velcro to the sign and we often do so when the yard sign is being attached to an a-frame or sandwich board. However, we do not currently offer this option on our site. If this is something you would like us help you with, please contact us.

Do you print 1, 2, or 4 color signs?

All of yard signs are printed in full color with UV ink. Thus, any design element you wish to incorporate will not affect the final price of the sign.

Do you have bulk pricing?

Yes, our pricing reflects any kind of bulk purchasing starting at 2 signs. Assuming all of your signs are exactly the same, the pricing on the design tool will reflect our quantity discounts. For extremely large orders please contact us to inquire about the potential of further discounts.

What are the standard or common sizes for yard signs?

The most common size of yard sign is 24”x18”. This is the size of most political yard signs. Other commons sizes include 24”x12”, 18”x12”, 36”x18” and 2’x2’, 4’x4’ and 4’x8’.

Do you only offer standard sizes? If not, what are your minimum and maximum dimensions?

Unlike other companies who may offer just a “small” and “large” or even “small”, “medium” and “large” sign options, we offer any custom size yard sign you might need. When you are choosing a custom size, please keep in mind that our wire stakes are 10” wide, so any sign narrower than that would not work with the h-stakes. Also, our maximum dimension is 96”. Thus, anything within those parameters is an available option for your custom yard sign.

What is the life span of yard signs?

The life span of our corrugated plastic yard signs is 2+ years with proper placement and care. Yard signs are designed to be more of a temporary sign but can be used on more than one occasion if used and stored properly. For longer lasting exterior signs we recommend plastic signs and aluminum.

Can I order custom-shaped yard signs?

Yes, you can cut your yard signs to any shape you want them to be in. We’ve had previous customers cut directional yard signs into the shape of an arrow and they turn out great. However, our recommendation is that if you intend to have your signs cut that you order yard signs with very basic shapes. Intricate designs and cuts are simply not compatible with a corrugated plastic yard sign.

What are the minimum and maximum dimensions for yard signs?

Our minimum dimension is 4” but we would recommend nothing lower than 11” so as to work with our wire stakes. Further, the maximum dimension is 96”.

Do you offer any other frames beyond the traditional 10”x24” wire stake? What about metal sign riders?

We currently do not offer other wire stake sizes (such as 10”x15”) nor do we offer metal sign riders. We recommend using a rigid plastic sign or aluminum sign that can then be used with something such as a frame or even posts.

Do you offer blank yard signs?

We do offer blank yard signs. Simply create your signs with no graphics on them and proceed to checkout. Be sure to leave us a comment on the checkout page letting us know that your signs are intentionally left blank.

Do you offer different colors of Coroplast?

Because we print in full color, we do not offer any other colors of corrugated plastic. If you would like it to be a different color than white, simply change the background color to whatever you prefer it to be and we will print that color.

Is there any variance in the cut size for your yard signs?

Yes. While most yard signs are ordered at width of 24", there can be a 3/8" tolerance in the actual cut of the sign. That means that your 24" width yard sign may be cut so that the actual width is 23 5/8". This tolerance is not something that viewers of the sign would typically notice. Your sign will still fit correctly on wire stakes.

Can I order wire stakes and metal frames at the same time?

No. Because of the width variance mentioned above, in order to ensure that your yard signs fit perfectly in the frame we print and cut all of our yard signs that will be displayed in frames with horizontal fluting. This means that your yard sign will have the corrugated plastic fluting on the sides rather than on the top and bottom. When we cut the signs with horizontal fluting, they are cut at a true 24". Yard signs with horizontal fluting are not compatible with wire stakes because the stakes need vertical fluting to be displayed properly.

How much does it cost to make a yard sign?

Several factors affect the cost of printing yard signs. These factors include opting for single- or double-sided printing, custom shapes, and one-, two-, or full-color printing. Additionally, consider rush fees, shipping costs, and display options such as frames, wire stakes, and grommets. Our price calculator indicates how much it will cost to make your yard signs, including shipping estimates.

Do you have business yard sign designs that will work for my project?

Yes, we offer design templates for businesses that need yard signs. Our templates include designs for real estate professionals, property managers, home improvement solutions, restaurants, auto repair services, and preschools and daycare centers. We also provide “Mask Required” and “We Are Open” templates.

Do the yard signs come with stands?

No, our yard signs do not come with stands. However, you can add standard or heavy-duty wire stakes to your order. You can also order display accessories, such as frames, Velcro, or suction cups and hooks. Our wire stakes and display accessories options are available at an additional cost.

Usage

Is there a way to display the yard signs farther off the ground?

The wire stakes are a standard width and height (10”x24”). Thus, your sign will be limited in some regards in how high off the ground you will be able to display it unless you install it using a different method. For those seeking to post signage that is higher off the ground we recommend either a washer and bolt, or using alternative exterior options such as rigid plastic signs and aluminum with posts of some sort. Banners, are also a flexible exterior option that can be used for one time events or even for a longer period of time.

Do you rent yard signs? Do you offer installation services?

No, we do not rent yard signs. While some sign companies will offer signs for rent for one-time events such as birthdays or family gatherings we only offer signs to be purchased. Likewise, we do not offer installation services of the custom lawn signs. Installation is easy with the optional h-frames or wire stakes.

Are your yard signs weather resistant?

Yes, our yard signs are weather resistant. Our signs are printed with UV ink which means they are fade resistant. Though with any sign that is used for an extremely long period there will eventually be some fading. Short term, the signs will not streak or smear in rainy conditions. The greatest concern for those buying yard signs should be high winds or extreme weather. Due to the product itself these signs simply aren’t produced to withstand extreme weather. We recommend removing and storing yard signs if extreme weather is imminent or occurring.

Can yard signs be used indoors?

Yes, yard signs can be used indoors. While most people will use them outside for such events as a homecoming, baby announcement, directional purposes, etc. they can also be used indoors. When used inside they will be similar to ordering a plastic or foam board sign. One major advantage to using a yard sign inside instead of one of our other materials is to save money for what would be a temporary need. Otherwise, we would recommend one of our other rigid materials as these materials will provide more options to display your sign.

Will my yard signs last long enough to use again?

In most cases yard signs are purchased for one or two time use. However, because they are made from corrugated plastic the yard signs do have some durability. With proper care and placement, and avoiding extreme weather, yard signs can be used for more than one occasion or event. See below for how you should store your yard signs in order to be able to use them more than once.

Installation & Care

How do I install yard signs? What are flutes?

Installation of yard signs is extremely easy. In most cases they will go in a lawn in front of a home or business. For these instances it is recommended that an h-frame or wire stakes be purchased as well. These frames will insert into the fluting (the hollow tunnels of the corrugated plastic) of the yard sign. For vertical signs the fluting will be vertical so that the h-frames can be inserted. Once the frame is inserted into the yard sign you simply need to step on the lower cross bar of the frame and insert it into the ground. Removing the yard signs is as easy as pulling the frame out of the ground and removing the sign from the frame itself.

Do I need to clean my yard signs? If so, how?

Your yard signs can be cleaned with a spray bottle and cloth or a wet rag. A simple wiping of the yard sign should clear away any mud, dirt or grime that may have accumulated on the sign.

How should I store my yard signs?

Your yard signs should be stored at room temperature in a dry location. Avoid places that are extremely hot and/or humid. Also, do not attempt to bend or roll your yard signs in any way. Once bent the yard signs will have a crease that will not go away. Before storing your yard signs remove the h-frames and place them nearby for future use. Be careful not to scratch the surface of your signs with the h-frames.

Q:
Can I have bands of color with black printing on each band on a 24” x 48” sign?
Asked 9 months ago by Tracy
A:

Yes, this is possible. Just make sure to set up the band color and the text color when submitting the files. Please take note of our file requirements:

Recommended file formats?

PDF, JPG, JPEG, PSD, PNG, TIF, TIFF, EPS, Illustrator, Publisher, DOCX, DOC, XLS, XLSX. PPT, PPTX, TXT, CSV, BMP, GIF, SVG, ZIP

We require artworks to be in CMYK color space and have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. The size should be the same as the order size and a 0.125" bleed from each side of the artwork is required for most products. We will convert files submitted in RGB color space to CMYK before printing and minor color shifts may occur.

Q:
Do you print directly on the coroplast, or onto vinyl and then apply to it? What is the resolution of the printing process?
Asked 9 months ago by Shannon W.
A:

Our coroplasts are printed directly on the surface with weather-resistant UV ink on 4mm corrugated plastic. The standard resolution for large-format printing is 150 DPI.

Q:
Are you able to create a 'write on' portion on the sign (using erasable marker like wet erase or dry erase) material so an open house sign can be customized with time and day per showing? (I order your excellent signs and I also design for others)
Asked 9 months ago by Kris L.
A:

Yes! You may use dry erase markers to write on our 4mm corrugated plastic yard signs; however, we recommend our Foam Board signs with the dry erase lamination. Glossy dry-erase laminate leaves your foam board a smooth finish that allows you to write clearly and wipe it clean easily when you’re done. Please don't forget to choose "Dry Erase Laminate" for the coating instead of "Standard".

Q:
Is there any difference in the quality and longevity of the graphics on a sign printed on corrugated plastic versus one printed on aluminum? I know the aluminum will last longer than the plastic, I am only interested in the longevity of the graphic itself
Asked 9 months ago by Dave M.
A:

Most of our prints are fade-resistant. The longevity depends on the usage of the signs itself. If it is placed outdoor ofcourse being it is open to all types of elements the life span can be shorter. If it is placed inside then it would last longer.

Q:
can you buy just extra sign frames?
Asked 9 months ago by David B.
A:

You can definitely purchase the frame alone. You may order it here.

Q:
I have two designs for a HS swim team. One for the team and one for the seniors including their photo. Do I need to do this as two separate orders? If yes, can the two orders be shipped together?
Asked 10 months ago by Angela B.
A:

This is correct the the signs need to be ordered separately. Shipping costs are also calculated separately as well. The good thing about signs is once your order is over $99, shipping is free. We need to check first what size you are ordering as this will depend on what size you are ordering for the Yard signs.

Q:
If they are is different and I have 51 signs, do I get a discounted price or is it per print?
Asked 10 months ago by Guest G.
A:

If you are planning to place an order for 51 different artworks, you may need to process them separately as we cater to 1 design per print item.

Q:
How much would eighteen 12" X18" BLANK yard signs with eighteen h-frames cost? Thank you
Asked 11 months ago by HL M.
A:

Usually, when our customers request blank products, we suggest adding at least a very small piece of artwork on the side that can be barely visible. But if they insist on getting a blank product, this is something we might need to check with our product consulting team. Kindly fill out the link below to get a quote on how much it may be for blank yard signs.

Q:
Need eighteen each 12" X 18" "Blank" Yard Signs with wire Posts. I'll also be ordering 2' X 6' printed Banners next week. They can all be shipped together. I just need to know if you have the yard signs, or will I have to order them elsewhere?
Asked 11 months ago by HL M.
A:

We definitely have yard signs, and stakes can also be added to the order as an additional accessory. As for sending it blank, we usually require at least something relatively small to be printed on an area where it is barely seen. But if you insist on getting a blank one, we might have to check with our custom team. Kindly click the link below to get a quote:

https://www.signs.com/contact/

As for getting them shipped together with the banners, these may be placed as an order together, but please take note that these will still be shipped separately as we ship per item. The good news is that if the total is more than $99 and the rigid sign is not more than 36", these are qualified for free shipping.
