We are open sign

What Are We Are Open Signs?

There’s no better time than now to start preparing for post-COVID-19. As shelter-in-place restrictions and social-distancing guidelines begin to loosen, you’ll want to let your customers and the community know when you expect to again open for business – and, of course, that you have finally re-opened your doors.

Now more than ever, your community might be depending upon you and your services – once you’ve re-opened your doors, let them know by utilizing We Are Open signage.

Types of We Are Open Signs

Here are just a few kinds of We Are Open signs that can make an impact:

  • Aluminum Sign - Great for outdoor messaging, our aluminum signs feature a solid polyethylene core that’s sandwiched by two sheets of aluminum (.008”) and direct-printed with UV inks. You can have your aluminum sign cut to various shapes, including square/rectangle, circle/oval, rounded corners, or even a custom shape. Aluminum signs are weather-resistant and won’t rust; they can be installed on a wall, hung, or placed in a stand or frame. Learn More
  • Opaque Window Cling - Colorful, adhesive decals that can be printed at just about any size and placed on a smooth surface, including shop windows, your store’s front entry door, etc. They’re semi-permanent, too, so our window clings can be easily removed when you wish to change out your message from “opening soon” to “open now!” Learn More
  • Vinyl Banner - Highly visible vinyl banners allow you to proudly proclaim your newly opened doors. Our vinyl banners are UV printed on 13- or 18-oz. vinyl; strong and durable, they can be used indoors as well as outdoors. Take advantage of our free grommets on vinyl banners for easy hanging. Learn More
  • Yard Sign - Our corrugated plastic yard signs feature vertical fluting and can be displayed with optional wire stakes, installed in frames, or hung or propped in various ways. Weather- and moisture-resistant, these durable signs are ideal for lawns and grassy areas. Available single-sided or double-sided. Learn More
  • A-Frame Sign - Durable plastic A-frames can be used outdoors as well as indoors. Available as a Standard A-frame with permanent graphic printed directly on either side of the frame, or as a Premium A-frame with printed plastic inserts that slide in and out of the frame. These are the ultimate in sidewalk signage. Learn More
  • Plastic Sign - Available in either 3mm or 6mm thicknesses, our plastic signs are made from Sintra (a high-quality, rigid PVC) and combine durable performance with versatility and affordability. They can be cut to many shapes and printed single- or double-sided; plus, they’re eco-friendly and recyclable. Hang outside your storefront, mount against a wall, or just set on an easel. Learn More
  • Poster - We produce posters as large as 98” x 48” and use vibrant UV inks to ensure your “now open” message will truly stand out. The posters are manufactured from durable 24pt cardstock and are sturdy enough to lean against an easel or any other freestanding display inside your shop. Learn More
  • Foam Board Sign - Designed for interior use, foam board signs (about 3/16-inch thick) combine paper-faced sides for clarity in printing with a styrene foam center that adds durability. We direct-print your message with UV inks. Learn More

The sign types featured on this page are ones that are most commonly used for we are open and other now-open signs. However, we also offer additional signage that may be used for your needs. To see all of the signs we have to offer, check out our home page.

Benefits of We Are Open Signs

You’ve likely been preparing to re-open your business “behind the scenes” during the past few months – perhaps remodeling and reorganizing, maybe formulating new menu options or other offerings, certainly putting new procedures in place for a post-COVID-19 world.

But you also need to have a plan in place to get the word out that you are indeed open, and signage should be a prime component here.

By utilizing We Are Open Signs, you can ensure that customers and passersby see right away that your doors are open for business, and you’re again ready to serve your community. You can use We Are Open Signs to alert folks to not only your “open” status, but also your current hours, your newly expanded menu, new daily specials on your products/services, and much more.

Best Ways to Let Customers Know You’re Open Again

Be sure to place your We Are Open Signs in all the familiar places – on your front door, at your store’s entryway, at the entrance to your parking lot, and so on – as well as some locations that you may not have frequently used in the past. Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Front entrance/door: An A-Frame placed outside your front door or entryway can serve notice to everyone that you’re open and that things are getting back to normal. Be sure to add a "welcome back!" note to your signage.
  • Storefront window: Use that large window to boldly announce you’re open for business. Opaque window clings are perfect here – they’re colorful and can be just about any size you need them to be for your company’s windows.
  • Sidewalk: This is another great spot for an A-Frame (aka "sandwich board"), of course, but consider using street and sidewalk decals here, too – these easily installed, durable exterior graphics can immediately grab "attention underfoot."
  • Landscaped areas: Use either single or multiple yard signs to reiterate that you’re open for business – "snaking" 3 consecutive yard signs with "We," "Are" and "Open!" is a good way to utilize these durable outdoor signage options.
  • Rooftop: Banners hung from your establishment’s roof can be one of the most colorful and dramatic ways to tell current and potential customers the great news. We produce three types of banners here at Signs.com – vinyl, mesh, and fabric – and all come with free grommets for easy installation.
  • Roadways leading to your establishment: Yard signs posted in strategic areas around and leading up to your store/shop can help reinforce your "Now Open!" or "Safe to Enter" messages.

Of course, beyond signage there are other channels you can also take advantage of when reopening your establishment. For instance, don’t neglect social media: It’s free and you’re likely already talking with followers on a regular basis. So don’t stop now – in fact, put your foot on the social-media accelerator and be sure you’re reaching out on all your platforms. Now might also be the time to investigate a platform or two you may have under-utilized in the past.

Other channels to consider as you re-open your business include: print advertising in local/community shoppers; e-mail/e-newsletters; and local radio and TV advertising. You may find bargains right now in some of these channels, as companies across the country explore their reopening options. And, of course, don’t forget about your own website; it’s critical to keep your site updated with your latest messaging and information.

How to Re-Open Safely … and Instill Trust

On the first day that shelter-in-place restrictions and social-distancing guidelines have eased, will hordes of customers descend upon your establishment all at once? Or will there be a more gradual “dipping of toes” into the post-COVID-19 waters?

In either case, you’ll have to ensure that you have taken the necessary steps to safely re-open. And, you’ll need to instill trust in your customers that the measures your company has taken are the correct ones.

You’ve cleaned up the back room, remodeled the front of business, and/or even reengineered your operation to some degree – customers will certainly appreciate all of these actions you’ve taken. But if customers don’t feel that you are continuing to take their health seriously, they may not stay long.

So, be sure you’re following all guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – they continue to update their business-related resources here. In addition, check with your state’s Department of Health (and that of your local community/city) to ensure you’re up to date on their recommendations as well.

Use signage to inform customers that you’re observing the CDC and all health-related guidelines to maintain a clean, disinfected store or facility. Posters and other signage reflecting how seriously you and your staff take customer health can go a long way in making clients feel at ease. Show them you’re “walking the walk” when it comes to COVID-19:

  • Continue to encourage hand-washing;
  • Continue to encourage social-distancing;
  • Continue to vigorously sanitize and disinfect your premises; and
  • Continue to emphasize employee health and how that translates to customer health.

Do these things, and customers will be more likely to show up at your door when shelter-in-place restrictions have been lifted – and they’ll also be more likely to remain (and return).
