What Are Street and Sidewalk Decals?
Known by a number of different terms including sidewalk graphics, street graphics, concrete stickers, etc., street and sidewalk decals are the perfect way to personalize any outdoor walkway and some traffic areas* such as driveways and parking lots. Unlike most outdoor floor graphics, ours are manufactured out of a recyclable, PVC-free aluminum foil base, which boasts a longer lifespan, more vibrant colors, and better slip-resistance than vinyl alternatives.
Custom street graphics are also abrasion and weather resistant, conformable to unsmooth or uneven surfaces, can be installed and removed without special tools or extra hassle, and are certified slip resistant.
Custom street and sidewalk decals are perfect for events, festivals, races, campus tours, and walkways to direct foot traffic, advertise sales, brand storefronts and more.
*Can withstand “rolling vehicle traffic” which means traffic that drives straight over the graphic but does not stop, turn, or grind directly on top of the graphic.

Outdoor wall decals should not be applied to painted or sealed surfaces. Both of these can result in problems during removal.
Foil-based vs. Vinyl Graphics
While vinyl based decals are the norm in many situations, foil-based street and sidewalk decals offer a number of advantages that make them an easy choice over vinyl products for outdoor use on the surfaces outlined above. These advantages include the ability to conform or be applied to uneven surfaces, the installation without specialized tools, far superior durability, a certified non-slip surface, easier and cleaner removal, and a more vibrantly printed design that appears as if it has been painted onto the end surface. We’re positive you’ll love your custom foil-based street and sidewalk graphics!
Installation and Removal
Most outdoor floor decals require aggressive cleaning, and pressure washing of the area prior to application. Because our graphics are foil-based, installation of your custom graphic is much easier. In most cases, simply sweep the surface free of dirt and loose materials and you’ll be ready to apply it in the desired location. No heat gun. No sealers. Just press and stick. It’s that simple!
Best of all, when you’re ready to remove your graphics, they will come off clean, in one piece, leaving no residue or marks.

Installation
To properly install your outdoor floor decal the surface must first be prepared before application. The application surface where applied should be above freezing when first applied. For best results, apply your graphic when the surface temperature is above 50 F.
Surface Preparation
- Sweep the surface to ensure it is free of debris for proper adhesion.
- Ensure the surface is dry. If the surface is greasy or otherwise unclean, power wash the area then allow it to dry before applying your graphic. A commercial degreaser may be necessary for stubborn substances.
- Avoid applying your graphic over any loose or foreign substance that may affect the graphic’s ability to properly adhere: namely; caked dirt, loose gravel, oils, grease, sand, etc.
- A mixture of 50/50 to 70/30 percent isopropyl alcohol (IPA) + water can be used for surfaces where adhesion is difficult. After applying the solution, wipe with a soft cloth. A second pass often helps with adhesion.
Applying the Decal

Once your surface is clean and completely dry, remove the brown paper back liner from the decal. Please note that the decal is not repositionable, so it’s important that you lay it precisely where you want it on the desired surface. Avoid crinkling your decal in any way before application.

Lay the decal on the desired surface, pressing firmly from the center out to the edges, ensuring the material conforms to the surface beneath to maximize adhesion. For uneven surfaces it is best to apply the decal a little bit at a time to make sure it adheres as the decal is not stretchy by nature.

If needed, a hand roller (optional purchase) can be used to ensure the decal is adhered evenly after initially pressing it to the surface with your hand.

Adhesion is instant and, once firmly pressed, the decal is immediately ready for foot and vehicular traffic (“rolling vehicular traffic”, no stopping, turning, pivoting, etc.). However, it will take up to 24 hours for the decal’s adhesive to fully dry.
Note: Our foil-based graphics can be used on the floor or bottom of a pool or pond, provided the body of water is drained and the surface dried before applying. Allow the decal 24 hours to set before refilling. We do not recommend applying to painted and/or sealed surfaces. Also, avoid cracks or crevices that do not allow for adhesion or can be intentionally or inadvertently punctured.

Product Specs
What are your street and sidewalk decals made out of?
How thick are your street and sidewalk decals? Will they cause pedestrians to slip or trip?
These decals are a low profile, measuring at a mere 18 millimeters thick or 0.018 inches. Since they conform to the surface where they are placed, and have a slip-resistant, textured surface, exceeding the standards of the ASTM, British, and CSIRO, you can rest assured they are safe to walk on, and won't cause pedestrians to slip or trip.
Are your street and sidewalk decals safe to be used in wet weather?
Yes! Regardless of whether your custom street and sidewalk graphics are used in dry or wet conditions they meet anti-slip safety standards of the ASTM, British, and CSIRO governing bodies. It's important to note, these decals are rated for horizontal placement and should not be used in wet weather on ramps or surfaces with any incline as their textured surface will be less effective at preventing slips and falls.
Are street and sidewalk decals the same thing as outdoor floor graphics or outdoor floor stickers?
Regardless of the name, street and sidewalk decals, outdoor floor graphics, asphalt stickers, concrete stickers, pavement decals, and outdoor floor stickers are all the same product, and are effective signage for virtually any outdoor, and even indoor application. So no matter what term you prefer to use rest assured we're speaking the same language and can help you get exactly what you need.
Are your street and sidewalk decals covered with a laminate?
Can my street and sidewalk decal be cut to any shape?
We can cut your street and sidewalk decal to the shape of most any custom design. For best results, we recommended simpler shapes to maintain the integrity of the decal, and to prevent shears or rips during installation and usage. Sharp points or angles are strongly discouraged for these types of decals as these make them more difficult to produce but are also prone to having a corner peel away from the surface during regular usage as is the case with any type of vinyl or foil-based floor graphic. There are several different shape options to choose from for your decal, including Square/Rectangle, Rounded Corners (1" radius), Circle/Oval, Custom or Custom with Border. The Custom shape option (previously known, or sometimes referred to, as Contour Cut) allows you to either upload a custom shape to our design tool or have us create a custom shape for your sign based off of your design. The Custom with Border shape option (previously known, or sometimes referred to, as as Halo Cut) is similar to the Custom shape option but will leave a small border around the edge of your design. Selecting the Custom shape option is not recommended for complicated or intricate designs as it can negatively affect the integrity of your decal.
What is the minimum and maximum size of the street and sidewalk decal?
Our street and sidewalk decals can run as small as 6" by 6", and as large as 53" wide in a single panel, and as long as 140ft. If needed, wider graphics (both dimensions exceeding 53") can be paneled to cover virtually any sized area.
Are there standard or recommended sizes of your decals?
As mentioned above, our street and sidewalk decals can run as small as 6" by 6", and as large as 53" wide in a single panel, and as long as 140ft. Given the wide variety of uses of custom street and sidewalk graphics there aren't any standard or common sizes. The size will depend on what you need for your specific event or location. So whatever your project needs we can help you get a custom decal that is perfect for you. Contact us if you need help with sizing or free design services.
Will it cost more to print my decal in more than one color? Can you print full color?
If I need a specific color for my decals, can you color match?
Are the floor decals 3D? Do you offer 3D floor decals?
The decals are not 3D. At this time, we don’t offer 3D floor decals, but if you are interested in learning when they become available, please reach out to us to be placed on a waiting list and we’ll gladly notify you when they are added to our product line.
What color will the unprinted material be?
I need something that can withstand heavy vehicle traffic. Will these graphics work?
These graphics are rated for heavy pedestrian traffic and "rolling" vehicle traffic. Keep in mind, excessive foot traffic may reduce the estimated lifespan of the graphic. For vehicle traffic, rolling vehicle traffic will not damage the graphic. "Rolling vehicle traffic" is defined as motion in a straight path - either forward or in reverse. Any vehicle traffic, including forklifts, that stop, brake, turn, or pivot directly on top of the graphic can and most likely will result in permanent and irreversible damage to your graphic. Thus, the graphics are not recommended for areas trafficked by vehicles that operate in such a manner. In the near future we will offer a outdoor floor graphic that is rated and safe for all vehicle traffic. If you'd like to be notified of when this product is available please contact us so we can let you know!
My graphics will primarily be used in dark or nighttime settings, will these be visible during such times or low-light conditions?
Our street and sidewalk decals have a reflective surface that is readily visible at night, reflecting up to 130mcd, or roughly 3X the brightness of a small LED flashlight.
Usage
Are the street and sidewalk decals for interior or exterior use? Are they weather resistant?
Our street and sidewalk decals are weather and slip-resistant, making them perfect for outdoor use! Though they can also be used indoors assuming it is with a compatible surface. We do not recommend applying to any surface that is sealed or painted. Using them indoors may increase the lifespan of the decal beyond 12 months.
These outdoor decals are weather resistant and can be used in both dry and wet conditions. For ramps and steeply angled application surfaces we recommend testing the slip-resistance during wet conditions before allowing them to be walked over by your customers, congregants, or otherwise
Are there any climates or temperatures I can't use my decal in?
Harsh climates and extreme conditions can affect your decals like they would any other decal or sign. Nonetheless, assuming all installation instructions are followed your decal should function properly between temperatures of -40F to 302F.
Can the graphics be used on uneven surfaces?
How long will my street and sidewalk graphics last for?
Our street and sidewalk graphics are rated to last up to 12 months of outside use under heavy pedestrian traffic. Using them inside or in less trafficked areas may increase this lifespan. Harsh weather conditions and climates can potentially shorten the lifespan of your decal. Graphics that are applied to surfaces that are wet or below 32 F (50 F is the recommend surface temperature) can also have a reduced lifespan due to improper initial adhesion. Lastly, anything other than "rolling vehicle traffic" can permanently damage your graphic.
Will there be a residue when I remove it? Will it ruin the surface where it was installed?
What surfaces are compatible with these decals?
Can the street and sidewalk decals be driven on? Can I store anything on top of them?
Rolling vehicle traffic won't damage the decal. Rolling vehicle traffic is defined as straight forward or backwards motion over the graphic. However, stops or turns on the decal may cause permanent and irreversible damage. Materials stored on top of the applied graphics should not be slid or pushed across its surface, as doing so may cause edges to lift and render the graphics unusable.
Are my custom street and sidewalk decals reusable?
Installation & Care
Does installation require any special tools or additional people?
You won't need any specialized tools, however a rubber hand roller (also known as J-Roller) may make the process easier and ensure proper application of the decal. If desired, this is offered as an optional add-on that can be added to your order while designing it on our design tool. With the exception of very large graphics, installation is simple and easy enough to be done by just one person without additional help. For large graphics, we do recommend additional hands to ensure your decal is applied correctly the first time.
How do I install my street and sidewalk decals?
To properly install your outdoor floor decal the surface must first be prepared before application. The application surface where applied should be above freezing when first applied. For best results, apply when the surface temperature is above 50 F. Surface Preparation: 1. Sweep the surface to ensure it is free of any debris such as loose gravel, caked dirt, oils, grease, sand, etc. This will ensure proper adhesion. 2. Ensure the surface is dry. If the surface is greasy or otherwise unclean, power wash the area then allow it to dry before applying your graphic. A commercial degreaser may be necessary for stubborn substances. 3. A mixture of 50/50 to 70/30 percent isopropyl alcohol (IPA) + water can be used for surfaces where adhesion is difficult. After applying the solution, wipe with a soft cloth. A second pass often helps with adhesion. Once the surface is clean and dry you are ready to install your decal. Applying the Decal: 1. Before starting the application process we recommend you lay your graphic with the back liner still still in place on the surface exactly where you intend to install it to ensure proper fit. 2. Remove the brown paper back liner from your decal. Please note that the decal is not repositionable, so it's important that you lay it precisely where you want it on the desired surface. While these decals are not as unforgiving as some of our window and vehicle decals we recommend not letting the adhesive side stick to itself during installation. Multiple people helping during installation of large graphics will help prevent this. 3. Lay the decal on the desired surface, pressing firmly from left to right, top to bottom, ensuring the material conforms to the surface beneath to maximize adhesion. For best results with uneven surfaces you'll need to move slowly and ensure that the decal is fully adhered as you go. Alternatively, you can also peel away only a small portion of the back liner and firmly press the exposed part to the surface first. Then you can slowly and simultaneously peel away the back liner and apply the exposed portion of your decal to the surface to prevent self-sticking. 4. If needed, a hand roller (optional purchase) can be used to ensure the graphic is firmly adhered. 5. Adhesion is instant and, once firmly pressed, the decal is immediately ready for foot and vehicular traffic ("rolling vehicular traffic", no stopping, turning, pivoting, etc.). However, it will take up to 24 hours for the decal's adhesive to fully dry
How I remove my street and sidewalk decal? Will it leave behind any residue or sticky substances? Do I need special tools?
Removal of the decal is very simple, and they'll come off clean from any unsealed surfaces. To remove the decal, simply peel back one of the corners of the decal and pull it away at a 45 degree angle, removing the graphic in one piece. A squeegee or other flat object may be used to leverage the decal away from the surface in cases where the edges of the graphic have sheared, making grip difficult. No special tools should be needed for removal of your decal.
How do I discard my decals?
How do I wash and clean my outdoor floor decals?
To clean your graphic(s), lightly spray the decal with water from a low pressure hose and sweep with a broom; avoid harsh cleaning chemicals as they may damage or negatively affect the decal
If you choose to use a pressure washer ensure that it is set to “Low” and is used no closer than 36”. Using a power washer on too intense a setting or too close to the graphic may cause irreversible damage, especially near the edges.
Can I store my graphics before applying them?
If you need to store your graphics for a period for time before applying them they should be so long as you store them on the original backer they are shipped with and do so for no longer than 2 years in an environment that is above room temperature
Nothing should be stored on top of the graphic, as it may bend, increasing the chances for rippling once the graphic is applied. For graphics which have already been installed, it’s important not to slide anything over the top of the graphic and to avoid turns or stop and starting of wheeled vehicles, as doing so may cause damage to the graphic and decrease its estimated lifespan.
