Employees Only Signs Made Right

Employees Signs

What Are Employees Signs?

Employees only signs, authorized personnel signs, and staff only signs all serve the same purpose: to let customers or guests know what areas are off limits, in order to protect them and your business. Use them on doors for restricted areas such as access to the cash register, safes, heavy machinery, specific parking zones, data centers, and much more!

Types of Employees Only Signs

Employees only signs are often made of aluminum or plastic, but are also made in any of the following materials:

Aluminum - 2 mm thick with a solid polyethylene core. Long lasting and a great option for outdoor displays. Learn More

Plastic - Plastic material offered in either a 3 or 6 mm (.12” | .24”) thickness. Can be hung, mounted, or placed as a display. Learn More

Vinyl Decals - Decal made from 4 mil vinyl material with a low-tac adhesive that allows it to be removed and repositioned. Learn More

High Adhesive Decal - Durable, permanent decal designed to withstand harsh elements and conditions. Great for outdoor use. Learn More

Opaque Window Decal - 3 mil white vinyl material with a full color printed design. Great for strong, vivid window displays. Learn More

Vinyl Banner - 13 oz vinyl material with free grommets and hems. Great for larger outdoor displays. Learn More

While the sign materials listed above are the most common materials used to create employees only signs, they are not the only materials that can be used. Your sign can be created from any one of our sign materials, and you can see all of the sign types we offer by checking out our home page.

Benefits of Employees Only Signs

Employees only signs are essential for keeping unauthorized persons out of potentially unsafe areas and for minimizing risk to your business:

Safety - Keep customers and guests out of areas where they may be harmed, such as near heavy machinery, warehouses, or loading docks.

Asset Protection - Protect key business areas by restricting access to cash, financial or medical documents and other valuable information.

Access - Protect your assets by restricting access to money, financial or medical documents and other valuable information.

Where to Display Employees Only Signs

Typically, employees only signs are displayed on doors. However, they may also be install on windows outside of restricted rooms, such as the employee break area or conference rooms. They can also be installed on sign posts as aluminum or durable plastic signs to mark specific parking spots or entire lots. Or they can be installed on walls as vinyl decals or used at exclusive events or booths as banners.

As a general rule, where the sign is used to indicate dangerous or hazardous conditions, OSHA requires that the sign must be visible, with a clear and concise message.

Open House Sign Regulations

OSHA requires businesses and other commercial buildings to post proper warnings to prevent possible injury, accident or possible fatality. As a general rule, it’s important to keep customers and guests away from areas that pose a risk, and the responsibility falls to the commercial body to mitigate such risks. OSHA outlines specific designs, color and placement standards for signs that caution or warn against hazardous situations. Some of these include:

Sign Shape - Signs must have rounded or blunt corners

Sign Message - The sign’s message must be concise, legible and readily understood

Sign Placement - Signs must be place in a visible area

Communicating Urgency - The signs should communicate immediate danger

Consistent Design - Signs must follow specific patterns for design and color depending on the message
