Using Signage to Combat COVID-19 at Your School & Campus

This fall, schools and educational facilities of all types – from local public K-12 and private schools to tech schools, junior/community colleges, and universities – will seek to navigate their students’ return this fall amidst COVID-19. School decision-makers will have to consider a plethora of factors and then implement best practices for minimizing any COVID-19 exposure.

Signage will play a critical role in your COVID-19 efforts as you prepare for students and faculty returning to school. Because they’re available in a nearly infinite variety of types, shapes, and sizes, signs are ideal for delivering your most crucial messages – and to do so just about anywhere on campus to a broad audience.

Q:
Do your masks and neck gaiters guarantee that I (or people I’m around) won’t get sick?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Definitely not! Our masks as well as our neck gaiters are designed for general use in a public setting – they’re not medically rated. And although the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends covering your mouth and nose with a cloth face covering when around others to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we cannot guarantee that a mask or gaiter will prevent infection or the transmission of any viruses or diseases.

Q:
Will your floor decals last throughout the school year?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

They should – in fact, because our floor decals are made from 3.4-mil calendered vinyl with a protective laminate coating and printed with fade-resistant UV inks, our floor decals typically have a lifespan of 3-5 years with proper care. They’re compatible with just about any floor surface, too: from hardwood and tile to smooth sealed concrete, laminate, and others. Don’t forget: We also offer carpet stickers and street & sidewalk decals!

Q:
What signage will I need to open my school?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

The signage your school requires will vary from state to state (and perhaps from school district to school district). Your state health department has likely issued requirements and guidance, in conjunction with your state’s educational board. School business officers in K-12 schools can typically be good sources of information in these facilities.

Q:
Can you print our school logo on a mask or neck gaiter?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Yes, certainly – all you have to do is provide us with your school logo (or any image or design you have copyright/trademark permission to). We also offer free design services on our masks and gaiters. Of note: For neck gaiters, we suggest placing logos or other main design elements in the top center of the design for the best result.

Q:
Where should I display my covid-19 signs for my school?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

That depends on the sign’s intent/use, the type of sign it is (a banner, a poster, an A-frame, etc.), and other factors. For instance, a large banner at the building’s entrance would serve nicely as a general social-distancing reminder as your students return to school. A combination of floor decals and wall decals or posters would be ideal for a cafeteria or lunchroom setting. Our account managers can help you determine the types of signage you might need to best serve your student body.

Q:
How can signs help with social distancing at schools?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Signs can be immediate and constant visual reminders for any message you want to place in front of your students and faculty, particularly social distancing. Floor decals, for instance, can turn previously crowded corridors into one-way avenues or visually “show” students precisely where to stand while awaiting today’s lunch. Street & sidewalk decals and A-frames can serve the same purpose outside the facility.

Q:
I need to place a very large order – is there someone that can help me with doing this?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Of course – just contact our sales team and we’ll discuss your needs, your options with us, and how we can help you. Because we stock more than 300 different materials in our warehouse, we can produce your signs and typically get them to you in as little as 2 days!

Q:
Do you offer quantity discounts?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Yes, we give all our customers price breaks when ordering higher quantities. You can use our Pricing Estimator to quickly determine your price on any product we sell. Simply click the sign type you are interested in, indicate a size, and then enter a quantity – your price will appear in seconds, complete with shipping costs (if applicable) when you enter your zip code. We take pride in the fact that, as a Signs.com customer, you’ll always know exactly what you’re paying

Q:
We need to give our various schools some latitude in some of our signage designs – can we do this?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Definitely! As explained above, we can set up a free, branded Signage Portal for you. You’ll be able to upload the basic templates, but allow each of your schools to modify some aspects of the design if they so choose. So, for instance, schools can indicate their specific locations for temperature testing, or change out mascot images for their particular school, and so on. Each school can customize their signage, but stay true to the overall design and brand you’ve established and want to maintain.

Q:
We have a large school district, and some of our schools are quite distant from our education home office. Can we have signage sent directly to each school rather than ask our staff to be delivery drivers? We don’t have a lot of storage space here anyway.
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Once your school district is set up with a Signage Portal, your schools will be able to have their signs shipped directly to them (with your authorization, of course). You won’t have to physically inventory any signs in your office, and you’ll have access to details on every order and shipment. Since there are no minimum orders or monthly quotas, your schools can order as few (or as many) signs as they require.
