Foam Board

Our foam board signs are made of standard, paper-faced memory foam board with a rigid foam center. The solid foam center gives it durability and makes it a great indoor signage option, and the paper-faced sides allow for clarity in printing.

Our foam board signs are 3⁄16" (about 0.2”) thick. We currently do not offer other thicknesses on this page, but we do offer additional types and thicknesses. Please call us or contact us about these other choices.

Foam board signs will have some pliability regardless of size. Though bigger signs tend to be more bendable, it is important to treat them with care to prevent damage regardless of size. If you are looking for something more durable and long-lasting, consider using our rigid plastic signs instead.

We print using large format industrial size printers, so your sign cannot be any smaller than 4” x 4”. Any sign smaller than 4”x 4 risks reduced clarity of the printed design. The maximum size of any custom foam board sign is 94” x 46”.

We also offer standard sizes including 12" x 12", 24" x 12", 36" x 18", 4' x 2', and 6' x 3'. You can also order a custom sign in any size you want between our smallest and biggest permissible dimensions.

Whether you order a custom foam board sign or any other sign from us, we will print them in full color. Regardless of how simple or complex the design portion of your sign is, it won’t impact the cost of your sign. What dictates your sign cost is the size, quantity, type, and any shipping and/or taxes that may be applicable.

We will also design your sign for free if needed which means you can save on designer fees, too!

Yes, we offer double-sided foam board signs. Select this option while designing your sign under the “Printed Sides” dropdown menu. To create a different design for the back of your foam board sign, click on the “Back Side” button to switch between the front and back side of your sign.

Yes! You are able to add a dry erase laminate to your foam board sign, allowing you to write on the sign with dry erase markers. This laminate will also give your sign a vibrant, glossy finish and will help protect it against fading, scratches, graffiti, and other elements. In addition to being completely customizable with any design you desire on the printed areas, dry erase enhances the usability of your sign. By selecting "Dry Erase Laminate" option from the coating drop-down at the top of this page, you can turn any foam board sign into a custom dry erase board.

The dry erase laminate we use is designed to be high quality and allow you to write clearly, and wipe away clean—even after the marker has been left for days. Dry erase markers may stain if left on the dry erase surface for over extended periods or when exposed for long periods in the sun.

In the rare case that a stain is left on your dry erase foamboard sign, we suggest removing the stain with a non-abrasive cloth and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol or a small amount of hand sanitizer to wipe away tough stains. Citrus based cleaners also work well.

We offer free shipping on all orders over $99 unless the order requires freight shipping or is determined by the carrier to be oversized. Due to simple shipping rules, rigid signs that are over certain dimensions require to be shipped via freight shipping. This causes the shipping expense to be much more than usual. 

While it’s possible to add grommets in your foam board sign, we generally do not recommend it. You can add 3M Command ™ Strips, Velcro, or an easel back to your order instead so you can display your foam board. If you still want to use grommets in your foam board sign, please contact us before ordering so we can help you customize your sign.

Actually, they don't. Foamboard and foamcore are misspellings of the word "foam board" and the brand name Fome-Core, respectively.

Foam board and Fome-Cor are synonymous. All these terms can be used to describe a foam sign in which your design or logo is printed directly onto the surface of the foam material. As noted above, our foam board signs are made with a foam center and paper-faced exterior for clear printing. There may be a minor difference between the brand and actual material as some sign shops source from the manufacturers or wholesalers. Foam boards are normally 3⁄16" thick, but custom thicknesses can be ordered by contacting us. Regardless of which name or term you might use we'll know that you are ordering a foam sign, so don’t worry!

Foam board signs are intended for interior use only. Using them outside exposes them to the elements that can cause damage. Whether it’s a little precipitation or high winds, foam board signs aren’t designed to be used outdoors.

How you install or post your foam board sign largely depends on the setting and usage. Most foam boards can be propped up on easels, framed, or placed on a surface using an adhesive. You can also install your foam board signage using adhesive, tape, rope, string, zip ties, etc.

Yes, you can add accessories that display your foam board in your order. Under “Accessories” choose from Velcro, 3M Command™ strips, or an easel back.

You should store your custom foam board signs in a cool and dry place. You should also avoid setting anything heavy on them so that they won’t bend or crease. Unlike vinyl banners, bends and creases will be permanent on your foam board sign wherever they occur.

A dry non-abrasive cloth or rag is perfect for regular light cleaning of your foam board sign. When coated with our dry erase laminate, you can clean your foam board sign by wiping the sign lightly with a citrus-based cleaner or with dry erase cleaner.
