What Are Fleet Graphics?

In simple terms, fleet graphics are vinyl adhesive decals applied to the exterior of a variety of vehicles in order to both enhance branding and leverage vehicles' high visibility as an advertising or marketing channel. Fleet graphics can come in three different forms as described below.

Fleet Lettering

The most basic fleet graphics are vinyl lettering for vehicles. This option consists of your message being cut from solid colored vinyl. Messaging is primarily text but simple vector graphics will also work. Lettering can be done in more than 30 colors but can not contain printed photos or gradients. Fleet lettering is pre-masked and applied all at once. Typical uses include company name, contact information, and simple logos. Fleet Lettering

Spot Graphics

Spot graphics can include both images and text. Your design is printed onto, not cut from, adhesive vinyl that is then applied to your vehicle’s surface. Because it is printed it doesn’t have the same limitations as fleet lettering and can be any color, gradient, and more. More complex graphics and logos for branding purposes short of a full graphics are the most common use of spot graphics. Complex logos as spot graphics can be combined with vinyl lettering to get the perfect look. Spot Graphics

Towel

Care

Fleet lettering can be washed on a regular basis with a damp non-abrasive rag so as to not damage the lettering nor the vehicle in any way. When cleaning, do not use strong cleaners or scrub vigorously as both of these actions may damage and/or peel away the lettering from the surface where applied. While hand washing is the recommended cleaning method, low pressure power washers and most car washes are both safe ways to clean your fleet lettering when done with care.

Fleet Spot Graphics

Fleet Graphics Artboard 23

Big or small our custom fleet graphics are the perfect way to brand all of your company’s vehicles. Printed spot graphics have no limitations on colors, gradients or other printed elements. All printed elements will be on one continuous piece of material (graphics that have both dimensions over 52” will need to be paneled) in contrast to vinyl lettering which consists of individual letters. By default the background color will be white but can be printed in any color that matches your brand. Spot graphics can also be cut to shape to complete your customization. Spot graphics have a protective laminate that make them water and weatherproof for graphics that will last for years to come.

Spot graphics are the perfect solution for complex logos, large one off graphics on the sides of painted vehicles and much more. If you’re looking for large vehicle graphics without doing a partial or full wrap, spot graphics are exactly what you are looking for.

“If you were going for a low-cost option that you could do yourself without having to wrap the entire vehicle this is definitely the way to go. I do, however wish they offer this as more of a die cut sticker instead of just an overall rectangular sticker.”

Q:
Will the lettering ruin the paint on my vehicle?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:
No. Your lettering should not ruin the paint of your vehicle if applied and removed correctly. Please ensure that the paint is fully cured before installing your fleet lettering. For removal of lettering that has been in place for an extended period we recommend the use of a heat gun or similar tool to help slowly and gently remove your lettering without damaging the paint. In some cases where the lettering has been in place for years there is potential for the removal of the lettering to damage or remove the paint of the vehicle.
Q:
How do I remove the lettering? What if it has been in place for a very long time?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Your lettering can be gently and slowly peeled away from the surface of your vehicle without damaging the paint. A sharp edge may be needed to get it started. If you're using a sharp edge, take care not to damage the surface paint while using it during removal.

For lettering that has been in place for an extended period, we recommend the use of a heat gun or other heat source to help remove the lettering. Gently and slowly peel away the lettering from the surface of your vehicle. Residual adhesive, if any, can be removed with a very mild cleaner and water and light scrubbing or a paint-safe adhesive remover. In some cases where the lettering has been in place for years there is potential for the removal of the lettering to damage or remove the paint of the vehicle.

Q:
Do you offer removal services?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Yes. Our in-house team and network of certified installers are also trained to properly remove fleet lettering. If you need removal and installation or even just removal fill out this form to contact us today..

Q:
What are the most common uses of fleet lettering?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:
Fleet lettering is most commonly used to display company details such as a logo, tagline, website address, and contact information. It is also often used to display registration numbers such as VIN and USDOT numbers for commercial trucks and fleets.
Q:
Can I use it on the inside of the windows of my fleet vehicles and have it be visible from outside?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:
Yes. This just means the adhesive will be on the front side of your lettering rather than the backside. This will allow for it to be placed on the inside of windows yet viewable from the outside. Please be aware that tinted windows will need lettering with light colors and contrast to ensure proper visibility. Even when light and contrasting colors are used for an inside glass placement on tinted windows the visibility of your fleet lettering will be hindered. For this reason we recommend placing fleet lettering on the exterior of any tinted glass.
Q:
Can I store the finished fleet lettering and use it later?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:
Yes. Your lettering can technically be stored 1-2 months before using it and still correctly adhere to the surface of your vehicles.
Q:
How do I install it?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

Fleet lettering can either be installed by yourself or via our professional installation services, regardless of your location in the contiguous United States! If you're planning on installing it yourself please read through all of the instructions below before beginning the process. We do recommend installing larger fleet lettering with more than one person for the easiest installation. ? Clean the surface of the vehicle where the lettering will be installed with a non-abrasive rag and very mild cleaner or slightly soapy water. ? Allow the vehicle's surface to completely air dry before beginning installation. ? If necessary, measure and mark the area in a non-permanent fashion where the lettering will be installed. Ensure it is level and will be correctly placed after installation. ? Without removing the back liner of the lettering or the transfer tape (on top of the lettering) use masking or painter's tape (or other suitable tape safe for a vehicle's paint surface) to affix the top your lettering to your previously marked location. This horizontal "hinge" is made with the tape of choice halfway on the top of your lettering and halfway on the vehicle's surface. ? Hliding your lettering away from the intended surface, carefully start to peel away the back liner of the lettering that is affixed to the vehicle. Do not let the lettering or transfer paper (both of which now have the adhesive side exposed) touch the the surface of the vehicle. It is recommended that you peel away a small horizontal strip before removing the entire back liner though removing it all at once is a perfectly fine, albeit more difficult, way of applying your lettering. ? While still hliding your lettering and transfer tape away from the surface of the vehicle, use a flat surface (like a credit card or the optional squeegee) to evenly and firmly press the adhesive backing of the letters and transfer paper to the surface. Move from top to bottom across the lettering. ? If you're peeling away the back liner little by little continue to peel away the backing while evenly and firmly press the lettering (with the transfer paper on top of it) onto the surface. ? Once your fleet lettering is fully adhered to the vehicle, carefully remove the masking tape and transfer tape. ? Your fleet lettering is now installed on the surface where you want it. ? Remove any bubbles that remain. Remove any non-permanent markings that may remain.

Q:
Do you provide any of the tools needed to install it myself?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:

While designing your fleet lettering on our online design tool you'll have the option to include a squeegee for a very small price. We highly recommend including this if you do not already have a squeegee.

Q:
Do I need to do anything to maintain my fleet lettering?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:
Assuming proper installation, the only ongoing maintenance or care is a light scrubbing or washing of your fleet lettering to remove built up dirt and grime. Please be aware that strong power washers (greater than 1500-2000 psi), electric or automated car washes (can wash off lettering if edges have curled or lifted; also can dull the design over time), harsh chemicals, and vigorous scrubbing can all irreversibly damage your fleet lettering. If using a power washer ensure the following:.
