What Are Aluminum Signs?
Our aluminum signs are made of two pre-painted sheets of .008" aluminum with a solid polyethylene core (for a total thickness of approximately 1/13”). They are weather-resistant and work great for a variety of uses including property, retail, manufacturing, and real estate signage.
Additional customization options available for aluminum signs include cutting signs to shape, drilling holes for easy hanging, and single or double-sided printing.
We offer a wide range of sizes for aluminum signs, and you can customize the dimensions according to your preference. Some of the most common sizes are 12" x 12”, 24" x 6", 18" x 24", 2' x 2', and 4' x 4'.

Weather-Resistant
Our aluminum signs are intended for both indoor and outdoor use. Even without the protective laminate coating, they are weather-resistant, will not rust, and will stand the test of time no matter where you use them. These 3 mm metal signs are thick and durable yet thin enough to look visually pleasing regardless of the setting.
Custom Shape Options
Your aluminum sign can be cut into shape in different ways. Our Custom Shape option cuts your sign to the exact edge indicated by your design, while our Custom with Border option cuts your sign to a specific shape while leaving a small border around its edge. You can also choose to have your aluminum signs trimmed to have rounded corners or to be cut as a circle/oval. All of these options are available through our design tool which you’ll find during the ordering process.
Installation
Aluminum signage can be hung, installed on a wall or placed in stands or frames. If optional drilled holes aren't selected, holes can be easily drilled using a metal drill bit. Use rope, string, or bungees to hang, use screws with washers to attach to wood or concrete or use nuts and bolts to attach to posts.
Care
Simply wipe your aluminum signs with a mixture of mild soap and water using a non-abrasive cloth. To keep the signs from denting or warping, do not install them where heavy winds could blow them into other objects. If your aluminum sign has protective laminate, we recommend using a citrus-based cleaner or a cleaning mixture of 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water. Wiping a small amount of cleaner with a fresh cloth will help keep your coated sign clean and vibrant.

Aluminum Signs
How thick are your aluminum signs? Do you offer different thickness options?
Our aluminum signs are 3mm. They are made up of two .008” aluminum sheets and a solid polyethylene core. In our experience the 3 mm aluminum signs are extremely durable and sufficiently thick for nearly all uses. However, if you are interested in thicker aluminum signs please contact us for a custom quote.
How come shipping costs so much?
While we offer free shipping on orders over $99, including aluminum signs, this excludes rigid materials (like aluminum) over 36" in any given dimension or any order that requires freight shipping. Signs over this width or height require additional care when packaging in order to prevent damage when shipping. Also, at some point, the dimensions of large signs require us to ship via freight shipping with UPS and may also require a custom crate to be built. Thus, shipping costs are significantly more expensive and we are unable to offer free shipping on these orders.
Are your aluminum signs reflective?
No, our standard aluminum signs are not reflective. If your application requires reflective material, please click over here for reflective aluminum signs.
Can I just drill my own holes?

What sizes of metal signs do you offer? Are there minimum or maximum dimensions my sign has to adhere to?
We offer a number of standard sizes including: 6"x18", 6"x24", 18"x24", 2’x1’, 2'x2', 4’x2’, 4'x4', 6’x3’, 4'x8'. Though unlike other sign companies, at SIgns.com you can design and order any custom size sign you might need. Simply use our design tool to customize your dimensions to your needs. The only dimension restrictions are 4” on the low end and 96” on the high end. Further, the absolute biggest sign that can be made is 48”x96”.
What is the lifespan of your aluminum signs?

What is the reinforced core in your aluminum signs? Is a simple aluminum sheet better for aluminum signage?
Most sign companies sell a simple aluminum sheet (.040) with your design printed on it. This type of aluminum can be prone to bending. Alternatively, our custom aluminum signs take it one step further and are made up of two aluminum sheets with a reinforced polyethylene (hard plastic) core. This reinforced core makes what is usually a durable sign an extremely durable sign. It makes the sign stronger at any size and ensures you’ll have not just a crisp print job for years to come but a sturdy sign as well.
Does the reinforced core make the signs extremely heavy?
Can I get my aluminum signs routed into specific shapes?
Yes! There are several different shape options to choose from for your aluminum sign, including Square/Rectangle, Rounded Corners (¼" or 1" radius), Circle/Oval, Custom or Custom with Border. The Custom shape option (previously known, or sometimes referred to, as Contour Cut) allows you to either upload a custom shape to our design tool or have us create a custom shape for your sign based off of your design. The Custom with Border shape option (previously known, or sometimes referred to, as as Halo Cut) is similar to the Custom shape option but will leave a small border around the edge of your design.
Do your aluminum signs have a matte or gloss finish?
Do you print onto the aluminum or is there a piece of vinyl overlay?
Can my sign have a laminate covering placed over top to protect the printed portion of the sign?

I’m looking for custom Dibond signs. Is your e-panel aluminum material different from Dibond? If so, what differences are there?
Previously we offered a material called Dibond in addition to our e-panel signage. Dibond signs, like the e-panel aluminum signs offered on this page are made up of two thin outer sheets of metal and a reinforced hard plastic (polyethylene) core for increased durability. Both of these sign types are made by the same manufacturer so the similarities are not surprising.
Despite the same makeup of these custom metal signs, the major difference is that the e-panel (aluminum) are designed specifically as an end use for signage applications. Further, our e-panel signs have proven to be sufficiently durable for outdoor use without needing the extra millimeter of thickness that Dibond offers at the extra cost.

- Our design tool has several customization photos to help you create a one-of-a-kind design. You may upload a photo, add shapes, insert your own message, replace the colors, and more! Use the built-in ruler, bleed lines, and greed lines to check the measurements.
- Click “Save and Continue” once you are done to proceed with checkout. If you have signed up for an account, you may save your unfinished artwork and continue working on it later.
Do I have to order multiple signs?
Not at all. There is no required minimum order quantity, but you will be able to save more if you order more.
How long does shipping take?
Our standard printing turnaround time is 24 hours – however, this does not include delivery. You may refer to the product calculator for estimated shipping rates and dates. Just click “Additional Details” and type in your ZIP code.

Our aluminum signs are not magnetic; however, you may install them using our standoffs by adding them once you place the order.

Upload Requirements:
- Your file must contain only 1 single-path shape.
- Your shape must be created as vector artwork.
- The file must not contain any raster images (PNG, JPEG, etc.) or applied effects.
The largest oval shape we can do for aluminum signs is 48x96 or 96x48.
I would suggest saving the artwork in PDF so that the setup will be saved on the artwork you have created. This will make sure all the fonts used and images will be embedded in the design.
Unfortunately, we do not make yard sticks. We are a printing company and can print on products that are available online. PLease feel free to check our products online.

While it’s difficult to guarantee an exact number of years, with proper placement and care, it’s estimated to last over 5 years. The sign will be less prone to fading and damage in shaded areas due to reduced UV exposure. However, factors like humidity, temperature, and air quality can still influence its longevity. For long-term durability, regular maintenance and inspections are recommended.
