What are Floor Decals?

Floor decals are adhesive graphics made from 3.4 mil vinyl and are primarily used for advertising in your retail store or business location. These thin, yet resilient decals come with as certified slip resistance feature and are durable enough to withstand constant foot traffic without being a hazard or nuisance. They are perfect for in-store promotions, seasonal sales, wayfinding signs, and much more.

These custom vinyl floor graphics are easily installed on non-porous surfaces such as hardwood, tiles (without grout lines underneath), laminated flooring, and sealed concrete. Before installing a floor sticker, you should ensure that the surface has been properly cleaned and prepared for the decal. Our floor decals can last up to 3-5 years with proper care but can also be easily removed after a short period if needed.

Our floor decals are compatible with virtually any indoor surface!

Floor decals will not work on porous or non compatible surfaces such as unsealed concrete, carpet or areas that are dirty, stained (oil, chemicals, etc.), or wet.

Lifespan

The vinyl floor decals are made to last between six months and a year even when installed in areas that see high foot traffic. If you’re installing them in areas with little to no foot traffic, they may last from 3 to 5 years. The floor graphics are intended to be a one-time and semi-permanent temporary signage solution, and they may not be repositioned or reused once installed.

Installation

To properly install your custom floor decal the surface must first be prepared before application. The application surface should be a smooth, non-porous indoor surface such as hardwood, tile, laminate, or sealed concrete.

Surface Preparation
  1. Sweep the surface free of debris and dust for proper adhesion.
  2. Ensure the surface is dry. If the surface is covered in grease or otherwise unclean, mop the area then allow it to dry before applying your graphic. A commercial degreaser may be needed for stubborn substances.
  3. Avoid applying your graphic over any loose, unwanted substances that may affect the graphic’s ability to properly adhere: caked dirt, loose gravel, oils, grease, sand, etc.
Applying the Decal

Installation of large decals should be done with two or more people. Once your surface is cleaned and completely dried, remove the white paper liner from the adhesive side of the decal. (For best results, ensure you place your decal precisely where you want to place it. Removing the decal and attempting to reposition it may result in unwanted creases and may weaken the decal’s ability to adhere.)

Starting at one end of the vinyl decal, use a squeegee to slowly and smoothly adhere the decal to the installation surface making sure to press over the whole decal so that it adheres to the surface beneath.

The decal will begin to adhere immediately and will be ready for foot traffic once applied.

Do not clean graphics for at least 24 hours after installation.

Removal

Floor stickers are removable but not reusable. To remove your vinyl decal begin by lifting the material from the installation surface at one end, pulling the material up in quick short strokes at an angle less than 45 degrees, and continuing until the material is completely removed. Depending on the installation surface and how long the graphic has been installed there may be some leftover adhesive. You can remove leftover adhesive with an adhesive remover that is safe for your installation surface. Your decal should come cleanly off of most smooth surfaces for up to 6-12 months after application. Removability becomes more difficult after 6-12 months of continued use.

Q:
How do I remove my floor decal? Will it leave behind a sticky mess?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:
Generally speaking, the removal of decals should not leave behind a mess nor be difficult to remove. As noted above, decals that have been in place for longer than a year or exposed to more extreme temperatures can prove difficult to remove. In either case the decals can be removed by slowly pulling the decal away from the surface. Residual adhesive can be removed with cleaner and a brush or rag.
Q:
How do I wash my floor decals?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:
The laminate covering that comes with the decal should keep your decal clean and vibrant. Nonetheless, regular light cleaning with a mild detergent and wet rag or cloth will help keep the decal looking great. Avoid power washers and floor buffers when cleaning your floors/decals.
Q:
How do I store my floor decals?
Asked a year ago by Signs
A:
The floor decals are intended for one-time use only. Thus, when applying your decal be certain that you are putting it in the correct place. Removing the decal causes stretching and damage to the graphic.
Q:
Do you offer transparent vinyl options for specific designs? Thanks!
Asked 16 days ago by Hope A.
A:

Unfortunately for floor decals we do not have a clear material. We only use white vinyl for floor decals.

Q:
Will this material stick to a rubber gym floor?
Asked 24 days ago by Fernando
A:

Yes, the adhesive we have for the decals can pretty much stick to any flat surface.

Q:
Can floor decals also stick to painted drywall?
Asked 2 months ago by Michael
A:

Our floor decals are made out of 3.4 mil. vinyl, which can stick to most surfaces. But these would work better on hardwood, tiles, laminated surfaces, or smooth, sealed concrete. Drywall materials include plywood and wood pulp, asbestos-cement board, and gypsum. Wood fibre and pulp boards are made by compressing together layers or particles of wood with adhesives and are manufactured with wood grain and a variety of other surface effects. This may produce sediment, which may have an effect on the adhesive of the floor decal. In this case, this type of surface may not be suitable for products with adhesive backs.

Q:
Is this 12’ or 12 ft?
Asked 2 months ago by Pattie
A:

For our floor decals, the largest size we can do is 240" x 50" or 20' x 4.2'.

Q:
I want a decal that looks like a rug, a braided rug or oriental rug instead of a real rug that would be a tripping hazard for me. any suggestions
Asked 4 months ago by Susan
A:

Creating the illusion of a rug with a decal is a clever way to add visual interest to your space without the risk of tripping hazards. Our floor decals are crafted from 3.4 mil vinyl with laminate protection, ensuring longevity and certified slip resistance for safety. They are compatible with non-porous surfaces such as hardwood, tile (without grout lines underneath), laminate, and sealed concrete.

Q:
Can you match a laminate floor? I need to cover round floor outlets in a tasteful, not noticeable way.
Asked 4 months ago by Dorothy D.
A:

Our floor decals are made of 3.4 mil vinyl with laminate protection, ensuring longevity and certified slip resistance for safety and peace of mind. While they may not perfectly match your laminated floor due to different materials, our versatile decals offer a fantastic solution for concealing areas you wish to customize. Designed to adhere seamlessly to non-porous surfaces like hardwood, tile (without grout lines underneath), laminate, and sealed concrete, these decals are primed to elevate any space with your unique touch.
